Hi there, penning down residence experience at Dubai to share with people who may have questions like a. How is life at Dubai; b. As a working professional does it makes sense to relocate to Dubai; c. As a single women, is it safe to solo travel & reside at Dubai etc. For those who have no questions, please enjoy a casual read.. I have been in Dubai since June’ 2018 and my experience with the city has been been super amazing so far; to the extent that given a choice today, I will prefer staying in Dubai instead of either in  London or New York or Paris. Just to give you some context, I hail from a small town in central India and am a resident of New Delhi currently. Strategy consultant by profession, I had been on a resident visa in a couple of countries before including UK, US, Singapore and France. Love for travel and catching up with old pals is something that took me to Oman this time. Other appealing factors included Oman’s proximity to Dubai (~215 km from where I am stationed currently), long weekend due to Prophet’s bday and cherry on the top, cheap quicker visa processing (50 AED, 2 days). Hence, with all factors favorable, Ms. Shukla was all set for her Oman travel from 29.11.18 to 03.12.18!!! Below is my travel itinerary and experience of the Omani vacation, with pieces of advice here and there for travelers, in case interested. Fun with books...  2018 started with few good reads like “Mind is your business” by Sadhguru, “One Indian Girl” &  “2 States” by Chetan Bhagat and “Krishna’s Secrets” by Devdutt Pattanaik. However the one that deserved a special mention and pen down is the one by Gurucharan Das titled “ Difficulty of Being Good ” The piece of writing is the author’s superb exposition of the dilemmas inherent in one of the greatest epics of the world, ‘ The Mahabharata ’. The story of Mahabharata known to all of us and taught in our households since childhood, has so varied perspectives and connotations. The reading served its designed purpose of revitalizing the questioning spirit and raised more questions than had answers for. I will strongly recommend the book to readers who would like to engage with some serious piece of work and seek intellectual insights. As I recapitulate from my reading ….
